From the second half of the Eighties, on the historical hand looms of Gegia Bronzini, experiments with metal wires began. Initially creative interventions alternating metallic threads with conventional textile fibers, to arrive in a few years to productions almost entirely in metal, intended for multiple uses of furniture. The fabrics of great transparency, for translucent curtains, animated by the three-dimensional force of metals, where the graphic sign, the intervention "of the hand" imprints the character and uniqueness of what becomes a fabric, are flanked by carpets, material but refined in which copper, tinned copper, brass emerge amazing and unusual. The textile for the table does not come out unscathed from the provocation of the new shiny materials; long tablecloths are created, clouds of copper fabric with dreamlike suggestions. Having become an active and continuous part of Gegia Bronzini's textile production, the wire fabrics still preserve their emotional charge, their great poetic grace and innovative component, more than thirty years after their first conception. Today, as since 1936, we use the same wooden looms to innovate, provoke and, we hope, surprise, involved in an exciting anachronistic dispute.
